Fabiana Trosman in her studio

In 1989, Fabiana Trosman began her career as a graphic designer in South Beach, Miami.

Her love of fashion led to work as a wardrobe designer for TV commercials and music videos in the early 90’s.  She later made a jump into production design and art direction on a number of similar projects throughout Europe.

She began representing her sister Jessica Trosman’s fashion design company: Trosman-Churba, in 1999.  As the Executive Marketing and Fashion Consultant she successfully introduced the line to a worldwide market – including impressive forays into England, USA, Kuwait and Japan.

Now her sister’s company is called TROSMAN, sold all over the world, has 3 retail stores in Buenos Aires and a licensing contract with Bus Stop Co. in Japan. Fabiana still consults for the company.

Then in 2000, she began designing her own line of bags. Combining her knowledge of graphic design and the fashion industry, she named her line “Not Rational.”

She created the line to please herself.  Like most women, she’s obsessed with bags and shoes – and wanted to carry bags that were comfortable, practical, simple and fashionable.

Choosing a name for her new line was simple:  During a therapy session one day, her therapist kept repeating that “Feelings are not rational.”  Considering herself a very rational person despite it all, she decided to name the line Not Rational.

For the Spring-Summer 2001 season she designed a small collection of denim and reversible totes blending striped denim mixes with solid colors.  The bags included three or four individually designed pins in bright, eye-catching colors inspired by the name and philosophy of the bags.  They provided her first introduction to Barney’s New York, which has carried her bags ever since.  She has since moved on to designing her collections with buttery soft leathers.

The line includes a bag that every mother dreams of: a leather diaper bag so hip that even fashionable people without children are happily buying on its own; and something every woman wants: a bag that doubles as a hip computer case, but doesn’t look like one.

Her handbag’s designs are functional and versatile (In other words: very rational), which can prove sometimes that NOT being rational can lead to great triumph.
